Our Philosophy

Slim Pickings are one of the premier covers bands in the south of England. Too many bands play what they want to play - we play what you want to hear! Our brand of high energy Rock, Soul, Funk and Pop covers will have you singing and dancing from the start. You can't beat variety. We ensure that you will never be more than a song or two away from one you know and love. How many bands play Alanis Morissette, then Elvis? Or Hard-Fi then Stevie Wonder? We want you to have a good time and to do that, we keep the set fresh, upbeat, danceable and full of huge sing-alongs. 'Our Music' will tell you more.

Our Set Up Slim Pickings have two guitars, bass, keyboards and drums, with male and female lead vocals. We have a very talented and flexible line up who can deliver many different styles. We play pubs, clubs, private parties, functions, weddings and we have the full range of equipment needed for the variety of venues. We have our own high quality front of house, monitors, backline and lights. We can even replace the need for a separate DJ (see our full kit list).

Our History

We were first form formed early in 2004 and have gone through some line up changes over the years, but remain true to our original plans - to deliver exciting, varied and up tempo music - all night long.

Si Bown is still our lead vocalist - a true front man and excellent singer. He is complimented perfectly by the wonderfully talented Rachel Kilbride on backing and lead vox. Dave May and Steve H also remain from that starting line up and we have been joined by the brilliant and very experienced Gary Talbot on drums.

Over the past six years we have played some of the best venues in West London, including The Horns in St Albans, The Stag in Burnham Beeches and the Old Ticket Hall in Windsor.

Thats us. 80+ years of experience and a collective 800 gigs or more.
