Here's
to 2012
Ok, so I am not a prolific wordsmith. One news article in
2011. Hmm, must do better in 2012. That said, it was a quiet
year by our standards, and the real New Year Resolution in 2012
is to be more active and get busy. How about studio time, maybe
a video and yet more gigs? Yep, that sounds like a plan. I wonder
how many will happen, LOL !

Time
to gig again
After what seems like an eternity off and a line up change -
its time to get out there again. Look for our dates in the 2nd
half of 2011. See you soon

We
love weddings!
Congratulations and many thanks to Lorna and Wesley. An excellent
evening, if somehwat cramped on stage ! We wish all wedding
crowds were as 'up for it' as this lot were. Magic

Summer
is over.
Its been a long break from gigging this summer, with everyone's
commitments to family holidays. But we are back and hope to
see you all at the Long Barn on Sept 10th.

Back
to gigging !
It has been nearly two years since Slim gigged on the circuit.
Dave and Steve have been playing in DJD, and Steve in Alphabet
Rug, but getting the Slim project back on the road is a HUGE
buzz. Loving being back and seeing all the old faces in the
crowd!

Steve
has a new toy!
The Beatles immortalised Abbey Road. Slim Pickings have Shabby
Road - LOL. Steve has bought a 16 track recorder and so we have
set up a rough recording studio in our warehouse come rehearsal
studio. Its not high tech, and, as it is designed to record
us live to help us rehearse, its far from perfect, with Mic
bleed, too much resonance in the room and many other flaws.
But that said, it seems to make quite good recordings! Or is
Steve a wonder-tech, in the making?

New
year, new gigs and new songs
Its been a very good start to the year. The studio time is very
productive. Its great to learn new songs and when they click
quickly and sound good, that's a real rush. We are all looking
forward to getting back in the saddle :-) so come back soon
to check our gig bookings
December
New
line up, new vigor
It has been nearly a year since the Slim Pickings guys took
a break for babies, other bands and much needed time out. Now
its time for a new line up. Jonny Grew has gone up North, and
is new a Dad (well done mate!) so a new drummer was needed.
Step up Gary Talbot. Very experienced and a perfect fit, Gary
has made putting a new set together a breeze! In addition, to
add more variety into our sets, the superb Rachel Kilbride joins
us on vocals. She adds a new dimension and her excellent harmony
backing vox and powerful leads are a delight to hear.
Looking
forward to finding that missing keys element though, as Whitey
is too tied up being a full time Dad to be able to join us this
time round. We're going to miss you mate.
